Project 52 Week 11: Favorite Song

Welcome to week 52 of our Professional Pet Photography Blog Circle.  I’m loving the topic this week!  It’s “Favorite Song”.

I do have quite  a few songs that I love!  The way the weather has been the last few weeks with winter in March, one specific song comes to mind, and that’s Wintertime by Steve Miller Band written in the late 1970’s.  I grew up listening to the Steve Miller Band in the 80’s and 90’s  (i was born in 74′) and love so many of their songs ~  Classic Rock!

We’ve been through two big snowstorms this past week.  Last week I missed out posting a blog as we were without electricity for a few days.  It was starting to get a little chilly in the house, but we were fortunate it didn’t get under 50 degrees – almost!

We lost quite a few trees in our backyard with the first storm.   When I let Kota outside when the storm had cleared up, she started to sprint around the yard, jumping over the down trees like it was an agility obstacle course!  Having a snow dog makes “winter time” so enjoyable!  And suddenly the trees became a non-issue 🙂  Dogs sure know how to make the best of things!  I ran indoors to grab the camera just in time….

Wintertime Snow Dog

The lyrics of Wintertime:

In the winter time
when all the leaves are brown
and the wind blows (So Chilled)
and the birds have all flown
for the sum—–mer—-er

I’m callin’, hear me callin’
Hear me cal—l—in’

(Click above on the song title to hear the song and take  you back to some Steve Miller Band!!!)

The next storm brought us 25 inches of snow in a short period of time.  We were grateful to not lose electricity this round!  The snow was beautiful and so much fun!  This is what winter should be like!

Here is an image the morning after the snowfall.  Where’s Kota?

Winter Wonderland

The next image was taken while i was lying in a path of snow with all the snow in the foreground:

Here is an image of Kota looking for the birds in the bird feeder above.  She does a nice job at scaring them away!

Snow Dog

And one more of Kota running on her outdoor path through the snow – now that’s a happy dog!

Along with this song that went along with my story best, two other songs that I love are “winter” themed:  Life in a Northern Town by Dream Academy and Colder Weather by Zac Brown Band – the song titles fit perfect but the lyrics tell a very different story.

Thank you for stopping by this week!  Click on the link at the end of each post to check out how some amazing pet photographer’s around the world tie in their favorite song to this week’s topic!  Next up is Lynda Mowat from Heartstrings Photography, based in Hamilton New Zealand . Have a great weekend!

  1. I think this is my favorite topic we’ve ever had. I am loving reading everyone’s posts. I love SMB too! I really like your other two song choices as well and of course seeing Kota having a blast in the snow is always a good thing.

    1. Thanks, Kim! I LOVED this topic! Agree on being a favorite! I realized i have quite a few “winter themed” songs that I love 🙂 very fitting for Kota!

  2. I am so jealous of your snow dog. I LOVE snow pictures. Sorry about the storms, but they did make for great images. 😉

    1. Thanks, Kelly! I was determined to get a lot of snow pics this winter… my wish for snow came later than planned but i will take it! 🙂

  3. I grew up listening the the Steve Miller Band as they were on my parents’ playlist. I remember one of their songs had a noise that used to freak one of our cats out. Love these images of Kota. One of my favorite winter-themed songs is “California Dreaming.”

    1. Steve Miller Band is awesome!!! That’s too funny – poor cats! Thanks! Yes, California Dreaming is a great tune!

  4. I love these photos! I’m glad you “weathered” the storms ok. Kota really looks like she’s in her element. Great song choices!

    1. Thanks, John! She is completely in her element! I think she is going to really struggle with summer this year 🙂 I loved this theme! I had so many favorites to choose from!

  5. Love the cool photos of Kota having a blast in the snow. The music videos you picked out are great and go well with the winter theme.

  6. I’m glad you weathered the storm ok. I’d love to have a snow dog to use as a model. Then again we’d need snow first.

  7. WOW! That’s a lot of snow. We did have a similar 24 inch count last year, but even though we have been hit with so many nor’easters this year, we haven’t reached that total yet. Beautiful snow photos. I love the results of the one where you were laying in the snow path! And, Life in a Northern Town thankfully just knocked “Footloose” out of my head…LOL.

    1. I’m not sure when the snow will be gone… May?! 🙂 Thank you so much, Elaine! Such a fun topic! And yes, Footloose was getting into my head, too – haha!
