Best of Friends

“Best of Friends”  ~ there are so many different stories I could tell with this week’s blog topic!  I thought I would introduce you to two of MY best friends who are “two peas in a pod” making them the “best of friends”:  My husband Pete, and rescued pup, Kota.

January of 2010 Pete and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary.  We lived the life of travel, as I was a flight attendant and enjoyed doing things spontaneously.  Our favorite destination was Ambergris Caye, Belize, where we were married.  Within a year after our wedding, we moved further north of Boston and into our first home together in Georgetown, MA.  Within four months, we fell head over heels for this adorable stray pup that we rescued that came to be known as Kota.  She’s  changed our world, all for the better!

I went from a life of travel, to becoming a “homebody” and cherishing each day with this enegetic dog!  Despite Kota having that “independent” husky nature, her and my husband developed a wonderful bond right from the start.  She was a little spitfire – and still is! – but has a sweet side to her.  It always made me laugh how I was the one who walked her twice a day each day of the week, but she adored Pete!  Isn’t that the way it goes?

I thought I’d share a few of my favorite images of these two over the years.  They make me smile every day!

This was from a few years ago – not the best focused image, but I still love it!  This was taken on the trails right behind our house.  Lots of trees were down after a storm and Kota had the best time hurdling them!

Of course I had to get outdoors and take one new picture of these 2 this week!  The light is a little bit dappled, but Kota’s smiling!  My husband has always sported vests with my Pant the Town logo, so time for a new and updated one with my new logo!!! (oh, and it had to be a hat!  I’ve been cutting Pete’s hair during the Pandemic and clearly there is a reason I’m not a hair stylist!)

  1. Beautiful! Kota looks like she (I can’t remember if she is a girl – sorry Kota if I got that wrong) is having a ball with your husband! I’m jealous that you have such nice scenery – we have totally different here in Florida (course it’s hot, humid and heat index over 100 most days right now too).

  2. What a lovely series and such a keepsake to have! Beautiful work and now there’s something else I know that we share – we were married in 2000 as well – makes knowing how many years you’ve been married very easy!
