“He speaketh not; and yet there lies a conversation in his eyes.” These great words are those of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. I found this quote to be perfectly fitting for this week’s Professional Pet Photography Project’s Blog Circle of “Eyes” and directly relating to the eyes of adoptable dogs.
Once a week I photograph adoptable dogs at the MSPCA Nevin’s Farm in Methuen, MA. I find it emotional. Sometimes I take a photo and fortunately that pooch goes home within a few days. Sometimes I take a series of images throughout different seasons and it takes a bit more time for the dog to be noticed and find their “soulmate”. One thing that all of these dogs have are soulful eyes full of stories from their past. If they could only communicate these stories to us in words.
I’d like to share a few of this week’s images from the shelter.
First is sweet, friendly “Coco”. She is nine years old, and as you can see, her muzzle is starting to gray. If only these eyes could talk….
And then there are the “seniors”. These dogs always seem to tug at my heart strings. Meet lovely “Marrietta”. She is 10 years old and I’m in love!
And then there are the younger pups, who just didn’t get off to the right start and are hoping to find a forever home that they can grow in and enjoy! Lola is 11 months old – how about those puppy eyes AND that little head tilt? She is looking for an active lifestyle – camping or hiking would be awesome! She is fun loving and sweet!
