Sunrise Reflections at the Beach

Welcome to week 39 of our 52 week pet photograph blog project.  This week’s topic is “Reflections”.

Reflection photography, which is also referred to as mirror photography, is when you use reflective surfaces to create an artistic echo of a scene.  A pond, a lake, a puddle are some examples of surfaces.  This week, my goal was to get a little bit of reflection from the Atlantic Ocean at Salisbury Beach during my sunrise session.

I met with adorable Lola and her mom and dad this past Sunday morning at 6:00 AM to watch the sunrise at 6:30.  It was a chilly 37 degrees F – i was in heaven!  It’s been so warm in New England it was nice to have a cold, crisp morning.  We weren’t the only ones who had the idea of sunrise – there were quite a few people out with their lounge chairs, blankets, and hot mugs.

The colors were stunning!  I usually meet with client at first light for a sunrise session.  We start the photo session with lovely silhouettes.  We were hoping to get more “reflections” of Lola and the water, but even though she was a bit curious, the vast ocean was scary to her!  Lola wanted to stay a bit further away – but we still got some beautiful images with a little bit of her reflection!
