Project 52 Week 18: Colorful

Is it Spring yet?  Or maybe we just skipped Spring all together?  Two days ago the house got chilly and I just HAD to put the heat back on .  Today it’s supposed to reach 85 degrees with humidity.  My dog, Kota, is completely confused by this weather pattern – and so am I!  The flowers don’t know what to do.  Should they make an appearance?  Wait another month?  It’s craziness!

I recently had my first session of so called “Spring” at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport, MA.  We met bright and early on a Saturday morning – 6:45 AM – to tackle the morning light and see what we could find.  I was definitely in search of color!  My model was beautiful Zharia, an adorable, spunky Black Lab full of life!  Her mom and mom’s boyfriend joined us for the fun!

Maudslay State Park is one of my favorite spots to do photo sessions.  There are quite a few options and a bit of walking is expected.  Some of the park runs along the Merrimack River which allows for some beautiful images.  There are gardens and a lovely bridge and a few little areas with graffiti.  I love all of the options!

When we arrived we were the only cars in the parking lot – score!  🙂

The first area we scoped out was the bridge that covered some water.  We had Zharia sit up on the ledge – don’ worry, we were safe!  Here she is posing.  I was able to enhance the lovely yellows combined with the light.  And what do you think ok Zharia’s collar?  Perfect for Spring and for photos!  Love the colors, design, and bright orange flower attached.  Such a beautiful girl!  Her lovely collar is from Cody’s Creations.

We did a little bit of walking and guess what?  We actually came across some flowers that bloomed in front of a stone wall!  I honestly did not think we would see any flowers.  Zharia did a lovely “sit” for us 🙂

The next image is my absolute favorite from the session~  there were lovely greens in potted plants and a wall that made a great backdrop!  Zharia was just tall enough to peek her little face above the plants.

  1. That collar is fabulous! Looks great on Zharia. I know what you mean about this weather. All the flowers in town are in bloom and our daffodils are just making an appearance.

  2. OMGosh, I LOVE that last image! Your images for this dog also made me remember that someone once asked if I took pictures of dogs with their collars on or off. I told them that I leave it up to the owner because they are use to them one way or another, but I personally like the collars on because it shows personality. Geez, and I probably should have just said, “love the images.” lol ;O)

Tell me what you think!
