Are you ready for some cuteness overload? It’s time to crown the canine champions of New England with our yearly ‘Best Of’ dog superlatives. From the “best head tilt” to the “most likely to steal your heart”, I’ve scoured my hard drive to find the most paw-some pooches across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. So grab your favorite holiday treats (if you have any left!), settle in a cozy blanket with your pup, and prepare to be charmed by these adorable award-winners!
Best Head Tilt(s)
There is nothing like just 1 dog doing a super cute head tilt… but how about a duo head “tilters”? These two took the gold as a pair!
Meet Burton and Jasper, the most adorable ring bearers in their mom and dad’s elopement at Rafe’s Chasm in Gloucester, MA. Could they be any cuter?
Check out the entire post on this beautiful elopement – it may inspire you to elope with your pups!
Most Mischievous
Aren’t ALL puppies mischievous? Haha!!! Adorable Huey wins this category! Just a puppy…. but that face has “trouble” written all over it! (just kidding, Huey!)
Is he ready to pounce? Hunt? Or is he hiding something here?
Best Ears
Look at those ears! I’ve got a thing for good ears! Senior guy, Spud, takes first for the finest in ears.
Gotta love his markings and the contrast to his white coat, too! What a cutie pie!
We did Spud’s portraits at the beautiful Acton Arboretum in Acton, MA.
Best Puppy Dog Eyes
Gus… that face! Gus recently turn 15 – and look at those puppy dog eyes.
We celebrated Gus this year at Zorvino Vineyards, a favorite spot of mine for dog portraits! That bowtie is perfection!
Most Kissable
This was a tough category! So many kissable pups!
Kona and his mom share a beautiful connection and it shows right here. We did portraits at Zorvino Vineyards in Sandown, NH, in January and had a magical sunrise with a blanket of snow!
Dapper
Can you handle the cuteness? Look at that bowtie?
Cooper sure knew how to dress the part AND pose on this beautiful beach in Cohasset, MA. His mom’s recently tied the knot and this image taken during their engagement session. Yes, I do believe your dogs SHOULD be included in your engagement photos!
Best Voice
Nothing competes with a husky when it comes to “Best Voice”.
Shadow was singing for the rain to go away at our Lake photo session in Maine. The weather Gods listened and we had a beautiful morning!
Sweetest
I photographed so many super sweet dogs, but look at this face! Sweet senior, Sunny, takes this category.
I celebrated Sunny and her beautiful family at Zorvino Vineyards. A beautiful dog, cutes boots and a wine barrel backdrop make a perfect image!
Most Adventurous
Stunning senior, Shara, went from NH country life to living in the Seaport District of Boston. She loves to adventure with mom and dad and even has an amazing cart to ride in – just in case she gets tired!
Shara did a great job showing me around her favorite spots! Look at that smile!
Most Likely to Steal your Heart
This pretty girl, Foxy, sure stole my heart!
I met Foxy with her mom and dad and two canine siblings at a peaceful trail hike in Southern, NH. She loved the trails and posing for the camera.
Best Smile
Ayasha was ALL smiles during her portrait session at Zorvino Vineyards. We met at sunrise and she agreed it was definitely worth the early start to have the grounds all to herself!
Ayasha’s smile was infectious – the happiest dog sharing the joy and love!
(In Memory of Ayasha)
Derpiest
My dog, Halo, is perfect for this category! SO much derp! She makes me laugh every time I throw the toys in our backyard.
Halo is awkward, wonky, but so darn cute!
(I’m proud to share that this image received a Bronze with Distinction in the Internation Pet Photography Awards this year.)
Most Dazzling Eyes
Rama and her dazzling blue eyes that look right into your soul takes this category!
Rama is “dog selective” and he prefers quiet places. We did his portrait session in my backyard and we were fortunate to even have a dusting of snow for this handsome boy to enjoy!
Best Hair (I mean Fur)
Piper had a beautiful silky golden coat of fur!
When you meet up just after sunrise and photograph through golden hour, that yellow coat of a Golden Retriever will surely shine! Piper had a blast doing portraits by the Charles River in Boston.
And doesn’t mom have the cutest boots?! A favorite pose of mine!
Soulful
In memory of sweet, soulful Lexie Reese. Soo much love for this pooch. We celebrated Lexie at Belle Isle Marsh Reservation in East Boston.
17.5 years – a beautiful connection with between Lexie and her mom. Two peas-in-a-pod. Best friends forever.
And that’s a wrap!
Which one is YOUR favorite?
ALL of the dogs are amazing and I could put every dog in their own perfect category. This is just a fun way to share some of my portrait sessions throughout the year!
Until next year’s round of superlatives, remember to cherish every wag, every bark, and every snuggle with your furry best friend. And please don’t forget to schedule a portrait session with me to capture those precious moments – time goes by way too fast!
Happy 2025!!! Hope to see you and your pups!
Love all the Photos. To hard to pick one. They are all great in the categories you placed them in. ” Happy 2025″
Happy New Year, Daisy Lu! Thank you!

Thanks, Jo! I enjoy putting this post together each year 🙂
All wonderful, but your Derpy girl Halo takes the cake as far as I’m concerned!
Thanks, Tracy! Halo gets the “derp” award every day haha! She keeps us laughing!

Thanks, Lynn! Halo is such a goofball haha! Gus… such a sweetheart.
